Signal Strength on the iPhone

Signal Strength on the iPhone

After about 6 months of time away from the iPhone 3G, I didn’t know what
to expect when my refurbished iPhone arrived last week. However, I have
noticed something very different in terms of signal strength with this
new phone, it actually works well! Over the past year, I have used
multiple 3G devices on the AT&T network here in Phoenix, and found a
wide variety of experiences. Using the Treo 750 for 9 months, the
quality of 3G was very good, and I assumed that because of my initial
problems with the iPhone 3G, that there was no hope fro this phone.
Well, as you can see from these screen shots taken at the same place (my
desk) there have been some changes. I don’t know if it is hardware or
software related, but the major issues with 3G seem to have been
addressed.

To me, this is a big deal. I’m not sure why, but I haven’t seen much
about this dramatic change. Then again, others may not have seen the
huge change like I have. Bottom line, I feel like the iPhone 3G is now
a viable option for 3G service. I hope future updates will only enhance
this experience.
